What are some of your moments which shaped your life or career?
For me it would probably be:
Sitting in college (Australian secondary education NOT like university) during chemistry and we're all mucking around having a bit of fun, it wasnt a serious class that day from memory. Anyway, my rather eccentric science teacher at the time discussing careers in science with a few of the students suddenly turns and announces to the class:
"I think if anyone in this class makes it as a scientist, it will be Daniel" (as he points at me with his pen).
Everyone started laughing, myself included, I had no interest in studying science and regularly played the fool and joked around rarely taking the class seriously.
Long story short, 5 years later after attending University for four years I was standing on stage in front of hundreds of people recieving a Bachelor of Science with double majors in Zoology and Microbiology, not one single other student from that class became a scientist, many of them tried and dropped out, but i was the only one to become qualified to work in the Science industry, and I'll always thank my Year 11 Chem Teacher.
