Yo. I am studying applied mathematics, and next semester our class is divided in to 2 branches, based on student's choice:
1) 1 Option is to major in Image and Signal processing. Learning how cellphones work, how to transmit data and keep it intact, how advanced military and industrial image processors and language processors work (A good example will be missile defense systems such as america's patriot, israel's iron dome, and many more, just so you get the idea). This course will give a deep understanding of math, physics and algorithms, the main point being an algorithm designer.
2) The second option is to major in Bioinformatics. Learning biology of the cell, sequencing the human genome, chemistry, biotechnology, from a mathematical point of view. Many people who majored in this later went on to work for companies making hospital equipment, and creating treatments to diseases, u get the point. This course will give a deep understanding of biology, chemistry, how "life" works, diseases, viruses, DNA, and medicine.
Both seem interesting, and I am unsure what to choose.
If you were me, what would you choose and why?
Please base your answer on what you find more interesting, and the jobs you can get in the respective industries (interesting is well and good, but eventually we all study so we can get a job, bottom line).
Thanks :)
