Something I was discussing with a friend today and I think it could fit quite well. Did a quick search and could not find any recent similar topics.
I personally think we need another stat to compete with the big 3 since stats are to homogenized right now between classes. Adding mastery would be the best option I think.
Mastery would like in WoW, increase the power of your abilities. For example by gaining mastery in Diablo 3, your duration abilities would last longer, your healing abilities would heal for more, and your damage abilities would get a higher weapon damage value.
For example I'll use a Monk because that is what I play. By taking mastery serenity and blinding flash durations get increased. Mantra of healing would get increased life regen and shield strength. Tempest rush or lashing tail kick would get an increased base weapon dmg value.
It would allow more builds for one as any skill could be buffed through stacking mastery. That skill that sucks that you want to use could be made to be better so running on MP3-4 with it would be possible. It would also provide another way to increase base damage beyond your base stat and weapon dmg from weapon which I think is also needed. Rubies in weapons would become more valuable as having a build where not critting, but hitting super hard with no crit would be viable. You would want that + weapon dmg gem in your weapon instead of crit.
Do you agree or disagree? What stat would you add instead? I'm interested in come opinions on the subject. I also thought about adding missing to game and a hit stat, but that just gets annoying because it would be a required stat. Everyone would just have a certain amount of hit then move on to another stat and never think about it again.
