I have first hand experience with cancer so I've always known that there is no singular cure for cancer... Oncolytic viruses, however, are types of viruses that preferentially attack and permanently kill cancer cells. Scientists are experimenting with genetically engineering them to be capable of targeting specific tumors.
Unfortunately only limited human trials are underway, so the chances are good that anyone terminal right now won't make it to see these comes to fruition :(
