Long have I wondered why people look down upon the grunt laborers of our societies. You know the people I am talking about: Joe the plumber, the grease monkey mechanic, coal miners, asphalt layers, oilfield workers, farm workers, etc. It is often thought that these jobs are degrading and relate to a lower class of individuals, but if you stop to think for a moment, then you would realize that these people are the pillar supports for our society. Without them the world would grind to a halt. They are equally or more important to a societies welfare than people we look up to as higher class such as doctors and lawyers.
I wish people would stop looking down on others for holding jobs like these, but me typing a small paragraph is not going to change much of anything. America is a celebrity culture and we are blinded by easy wealth, fashion, fame, and glamour. But the large majority of the world just is not like that.
